Steps to Follow:
To make this poster by hand:
Step 1: Pick Your Poster Size.
Choose a vertical poster to fit the shape of California. Gather your images of famous landmarks in California.
Step 2: Pick a Background Color.
Sketch the shape of the state of California on light blue poster board. Cut this out, trace it onto a darker blue poster board, and cut it out. Then, glue the two together to leave a thin border of dark blue on the left hand side as a shadow.
Step 3: Add a Title.
Used black quick letters to spell out "CALIFORNIA" vertically. Cut the top half of neon pink quick letters off with edging scissors and glue this onto neon orange quick letters for a two-tone look. Layer these on top of the black quick letters for a drop shadow effect. Lay this out on your state of California shape.
Step 4: Add Images.
Mount your California landmark images on the darker blue paper to give them a drop shadow. Lay the mounted images out on your poster.
Step 5: Add Captions.
Print out captions for each picture, cut them out with decorative edging scissors, and mount them on the darker blue paper. Lay them out near their respective images.
Step 6: Add Shapes.
Add neon flower eye catchers to fill in open spaces.
Step 7: Glue.
If you are happy with your layout, you can glue everything down.
Step 8: Add Glitter.
To finish off your poster, add a swirl of gold glitter glue to the center of each flower. Also, outline the left hand side of the California shape with gold glitter glue. Do the same to the right hand side of the photos. |
