Crayon Resist Valentines

Crayon Resist Valentines
Create stunning, personalized Valentine’s Day cards using a fun crayon resist technique with watercolors! Draw heart designs with a white crayon on the cards, then brush vibrant watercolors over the surface to reveal the hidden patterns, making each card uniquely perfect for classroom exchanges or sharing with friends.

Let's Get Started

STEP 1:

A)    Cut the watercolor paper into 6" wide x 4.5" high pieces. Score and fold the cards in half so the finished size is 3" x 4.5".

STEP 2:

A)  Use a pencil to very lightly draw guides for the designs.

STEP 3:

A) Use the white crayon to draw and fill in the designs on the card. Note: This will be the area that resists the watercolor paint.

STEP 4:

A)  Apply a wash of watercolors over the crayon areas to reveal the design. Let dry.

STEP 5:

A)    Have fun making an assortment of different designs for your cards!
