Create a charming nutcracker ornament using craft sticks, paint, and a bit of creativity! This handmade decoration, painted with vibrant colors to resemble a classic nutcracker, adds a festive and whimsical touch to any holiday tree.
A) Gather seven 4 1/2" craft sticks. Cut five of them to 3 1/2".
STEP 2:
A) Place two full craft sticks side by side. Place a cut craft stick on each side of the two full craft sticks so that the cut ends are about 1/4" above the center two full sticks.
B) Apply hot glue to one of the remaining cut craft sticks. Center it over the two full craft sticks and press down to hold the sticks together. The bottom of the cut craft stick should be about 2 ¼" above the bottom of the full craft sticks.
C) Hot glue another cut craft stick to the side of the center cut craft stick to hold the craft sticks together on that side of the ornament.
D) Hot glue the last cut craft stick on the other side of the center cut craft stick to finish holding the ornament together.
STEP 3:
A) Paint the hat, clothes, and skin on the nutcracker ornament. Note: Use the guide for inspiration, or create your own design. Let dry.
B) Paint the coat on the nutcracker. Let dry.
C) Paint the face and coat details on the nutcracker. Let dry.
D) Paint the gold accents on the nutcracker. Let dry.
STEP 4:
A) Cut two pieces of white fur that will fit alongside the nutcracker’s face.
B) Hot glue the fur onto the sides of the face to create the nutcracker’s hair..
STEP 5:
A) Glue gold sequins onto the shirt of the nutcracker.
STEP 6:
A) Add a dot of hot glue to the back of the nutcracker.
