Rustic Faux Metal Bunny

Rustic Faux Metal Bunny
This rustic faux metal bunny craft mimics the look of aged metal using corrugated cardboard with one side exposed to reveal its textured ridges. Painted in shades of gray and metallic silver, with a touch of cinnamon for a rusty patina, this charming bunny adds vintage farmhouse flair to spring decor.

Let's Get Started

STEP 1:

A)    Print out the template.

B)    Cut out the bunny shapes.

STEP 2:

A)    You will need a piece of cardboard for each bunny, plus a bowl of water with a cloth. Dip the cloth into the water to saturate it.

B)    Use the saturated cloth to dampen one side of the cardboard. Let the damp cardboard sit for a few minutes.

C)   Peel off the damp side of the cardboard. It should come off in one solid piece.

D)   Let the cardboard piece dry.

STEP 3:

A)    Trace the bunny onto the back of the cardboard. Note: Make sure the corrugation is vertical.

B)    Cut out the bunny from the cardboard.

STEP 4:

A)    Paint the bunny with dark gray paint. Let dry.

B)    Paint the bunny with the metallic silver paint.

C)   While the metallic silver paint is still wet, dab cinnamon along the edges and randomly on the bunny. This will mimic a rusty patina.

D)   Allow the bunny to dry.

STEP 5:

A)    Hot glue moss along the bunny’s feet.

B)    Tie a raffia bow around the bunny’s neck.

STEP 6:

A)    Use a cardboard triangle taped to the back of the bunny to make an easel.
